![]() ![]() i find many things much more performant (like primitive creation) even though i'm loading most of the same plugins. i did not use max 2024, i went straight to 2024.1 so maybe they were introduced in the base release. One thing i did not expect was the performance boost i got, even though i read about some of them. ![]() no more long modifier lists = more saved time Modifier list search/filtering is also super nice. still it's much much faster and doesn't redraw everything every time you select a node anymore i avoid it currently by floating the window like the old SME. ![]() ![]() the almost part is that i believe there is a reported bug where the docked SME sometimes doesn't stay in focus, so shortcuts you trigger might still affect your viewport and model. Should go without saying that the new SME is much better in almost every way. 001m" and "add a radial array" that i don't need anymore since now i can just set a new default for stuff like that that doesn't change until i want it to. it has eliminated a ton of clicks from my workflow and has also enabled me to delete a lot of ad hoc macro scripts that previously represented temporary defaults. ' create custom defaults' however is my favorite addition. all the work they've put into improving triangulation pair nicely with making terrible geo with booleans and smart extrude □ since Max is a bit more focused on producing usable geo at its core, i find boolean geo easy enough to solve non-destructively with modifiers so it's an excellent fit. I immediately love the new boolean modifier and it integrated seamlessly with my process to the point i use booleans far more regularly than i ever did a (similar way i work when i'm in blender). recently i finally tried a few projects in 2024.1 with my ported over settings: I've used mainly 2023 this year, but usually download new versions alongside. ![]()
